Use of Cookies.
Cookies are pieces of information that a Web site transfers to an
individual's hard drive for record-keeping purposes. The use of cookies is an
industry standard -- you'll find them at most major Web sites. At the time of signing in as a member of
GCHA a cookie is set on your machine. This information simply identifies you as
a member. The cookie facilitates you gaining access to protected areas of the
site, pre-populates information on certain forms to save you from re-keying
your information, and delivers custom content and images. The cookie is set for
a 6-month period after which the cookie expires and you must identify yourself
as a member through our sign in process.
Most browsers are initially set
up to accept cookies. You can reset your browser to refuse all cookies or
indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, note that some parts of GCHAs
Web site will not function properly without the use of cookies.
Use of Internet Protocol (IP)
Addresses. An IP address is a number that's
automatically assigned to your computer whenever you're surfing the Web. Web servers -- the big computers that
"serve up" Web pages -- automatically identify your computer by its
IP address.
GCHA collects IP addresses for
the purposes of system administration and to audit the use of our site. When members request documents/pages from
GCHA, our servers log the members' IP addresses. We do not link IP addresses to
anything personally identifiable, which means that a user's session will be
logged, but the user remains anonymous to us.
Links to Other Sites.
GCHA’s Web site includes links to other sites. These sites are beyond our control. These other sites may send their own cookies to users, collect
data, or solicit personal information.
Please consult the privacy statement of individual sites that are linked
to by GCHA for more specific information.
Security. GCHA
tries to provide security on pages that request personal data. Unfortunately,
no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100%
secure. As a result, while we strive to
protect your personal information, GCHA can't ensure or warrant the security of
any information you transmit to us or from our online documents/information and
you do so at your own risk. Once we
receive your transmission, we make our best effort to ensure its security on
our system.
The "Log Off" button
(located on the right-hand side, under My Account) allows
members who signed into the site to sign out. This is to ensure that others
cannot access your personal information if your computer is accessible to
others or if you share a computer with someone else or are using a computer in
a public place like a library or Internet café.
Consent. By
using GCHA’s Web site, you consent to the collection and use of this
information by GCHA. Any changes to
GCHA’s privacy policy will be posted in this area.
